Meals on the Go for Athletes
Coaches and athletes spoke and we listened! Athletic Director Mike Kuta credits our friends in Paresky with helping to solve many a school’s dilemma – how to provide traveling teams with portable meals that are also fresh, tasty and nutritious. The athletic department strives to minimize off-campus time and make available food to suit a variety of dietary needs and preferences. Since there really is no place like home, Mike asked ARAMARK “to keep the hearth section of the dining hall open until 8 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays and then provide ‘healthy snacks’ (not needing refrigeration) to hold our kids over until they could get to Paresky and enjoy hot, nutritional food choices in the comfort of their own dining hall.” (The athletic department makes other arrangements for those teams with later returns.) To reduce waste and improve satisfaction, our coaches place food-to-go orders on line. Other schools, interested to follow our lead, are watching how our plan works. Admittedly, there have been a couple of glitches, but overall we are happy with the improvements.
More Green Initiatives at Paresky
“Paresky becomes a larger part of ‘a greener blue!’” says Paul Robarge, ARAMARK Senior Director. Earlier this fall, Paul and his staff announced several initiatives endorsed by the academy’s senior administration to increase sustainability efforts in Paresky Commons. Here is a sampling of the changes:
  • We will source, when available, only the finest and freshest local, organic or all natural vegetables and produce through local farms within New England, from their farm, to your table when in season!
  • We can proudly state ALL of our eggs will be sourced from only free range poultry (Cage Free) which are raised through humane practices. Our egg products will now be all natural and hormone free.
  • At the Paresky Deli Bar our chefs will be roasting in house all natural, hormone free ham, roast beef and turkey.
  • On Saturdays and Sundays, Perfecto’s Café bagels will be served – too many flavors to list. We are proud to support another local business, which serves up some of the best bagels in Massachusetts.
