Health & Wellness Update
COVID-19 PCR student test results from this week are still being processed. Dr. Amy Patel, Sykes Wellness Center medical director, will send an update when results are finalized. All classes are being conducted virtually this week and indoor masking is required of everyone.

Masking & Testing
Parents, we request your assistance in making sure our students mask correctly and consistently indoors. This means having a high-quality mask that fits securely and covers their nose and mouth. The Omicron variant is highly transmissible, and masking is a proven strategy for minimizing spread. As members of the Andover community, students need to hold each other accountable and always be respectful and responsive if asked by an adult or peer to comply with this expectation.
Testing is also mandatory. Your child must submit saliva samples on time. This is another essential step for keeping our community safe.
If students are unable to meet these essential expectations for creating a safe community, they risk their place on campus and could be required to take a leave of absence.

Sandwiches Needed at Lazarus House
PA’s Office of Community Engagement has worked for decades with Lazarus House, an organization in nearby Lawrence that aims “to provide what is needed most by families and individuals facing material poverty, homelessness, and food insecurity in the areas of shelter, clothing, food, advocacy, and community resources.” Lazarus House’s staff has been affected by COVID-19 and associated quarantine limitations, and they desperately need support from the local community to be able to continue to provide food for their guests.
Attention families of day students and local boarders: The Office of Community Engagement is teaming up with The Kindness Collaborative during the week of January 10 to create to-go bags with sandwiches and drinks for Lazarus House guests. To learn more about this project and how you can help, please fill out this form as soon as possible; someone from the Office of Community Engagement will contact you with more details. Thank you!

Choose from several sizes and full color or black and white, and include your own special message and photo(s). Please download the order form, which includes instructions for submitting ad materials and payment. Deadline for submission is Saturday, January 15.

LITW March and Summer Programs
Learning in the World (LITW) March break program applications are now closed, and program leaders are in the process of reviewing student submissions. Decisions will be announced soon.
The application deadline for LITW summer faculty-led and affiliate programs has been extended to Monday, January 10. Please visit the LITW webpage to learn more about our current offerings; your student should apply via our online portal.
- For PA faculty-led programs, your student should complete the 2022 LITW: Main Application for Summer Programs section and the individual program application(s).
- For an affiliate program, they should complete only the 2022 LITW: Affiliate Program section and whatever application the affiliate organization requires. At this time, the online portal allows students to apply to only one affiliate program. If your student wishes to apply to more than one, they should email LITW director Mark Cutler.
- Need-based financial assistance is available for PA-sponsored and affiliate programs. Please email Andréa Gerakaris in the Office of Admission with specific inquiries.
Due to the ongoing uncertainty of global travel, the Academy will review the viability of travel on a program-by-program basis and make decisions in a timely manner. Any expenses incurred will be refunded in full. Questions? Email LITW director Mark Cutler.
