Keynote Address: Three Gifts from Parents to Serve Our Children for a Lifetime, on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 7 p.m. in Kemper Auditorium
As parents, we are tasked with preparing our children for the future. We invest resources, time, and energy on things that we believe will set our children up for success and help them achieve their goals. Parents of this generation are more than ever concerned about financial stability and career success, but are we equipping our children with the tools that contribute to long term happiness and mental wellbeing? In this event, we will explore three specific gifts parents can offer their children to build resilience, help them achieve their goals, and see through the distractions that often keep us from a life of sustainable wellness. This event is hosted by the Parents of Students of Phillips Academy.
Fireside Chat with Dr. Wang on Friday, April 5, 2024, at 7 p.m. in Kemper Auditorium
In our highly technological and networked global world, our lives are ever changing. Our youth have exposure to data and news at the speed and breath that previous generations never imagined. However, current data suggests that the mental health of our younger generation has never been more precarious, as rising rates of depression and anxiety are spreading through schools and universities. As supportive and loving adults, we must ask ourselves whether we are offering our youth the appropriate tools with which to understand and process their lives and the state of this world.
This fireside chat, moderated by Phillips Academy student leaders, will explore mental health and wellness topics drawn from the Andover community and discuss how we can improve our mental health in a world that more often causes us to feel anxious and distressed. The hope is that the audience will leave with tangible tools that they can practice today to build better mental health for tomorrow. Free and open to the public.
Questions for Fireside Chat: Families are encouraged to submit questions for the fireside chat with Dr. Wang here. The survey link will be open until March 29.
