The Andover Parent Bulletin
April 8, 2011 News, Events, & Announcements for Andover Parents
Parent Communication Survey – You responded and we listened!
A huge thank you to everyone who took the survey. We are analyzing the data and will use an upcoming Parent Bulletin to report on the results. Already we are applying some of your suggestions. For example, several parents asked for more notices of campus events in the bulletin, so we include a few below.

Congratulations to the winner of the Andover Inn gift certificate, Marj Andresen, whose daughter is a Lower. Mrs. Andresen’s name was selected randomly from among the 385 parents who notified us that they had completed the survey.

Bike & Skateboard Safety
In his welcome back message at the beginning of the spring term, Dean of Students Paul Murphy reminded students to wear helmets when riding bicycles or skateboards and stressed the importance of riding safely and avoiding steep and high-traffic areas. Student safety is our number one concern and we hope that by requiring helmets that we will minimize the number of injuries related to bike and skateboard use. Thanks for helping us in our campaign.
Parent Connect Webinar
The next webinar from Parent Connect, Getting In: Finding the Right Fit, will air on Tuesday, April 12th from 8:00-9:00 p.m. The program will focus on the college search process and factors every student should consider during their search for the perfect school. You may register for this webinar via the Parent Connect Webinar link on the Parent Portal.
News from the Parent Fund
April 1st marked the start of the Spring Fever Challenge, a friendly competition among the parents of the four classes to see which class can attain the highest Parent Fund participation rate by Andover’s fiscal year end, June 30th. Here is the current status:

Class of 2011: 43%
Class of 2012: 48%
Class of 2013: 43%
Class of 2014: 55%

If you have made a Parent Fund gift already this year, thank you for helping your class meet its goal of 75 percent participation! If you have not yet done so, please consider making a gift today. Your support will not only help your class meet its goal, but also provide students and faculty with critical resources not supported by tuition or endowment.
