Campus Life Updates
We are pleased to report that more than 400 students 16 years and older will have received their first vaccine by the end of this week. Second doses are planned for May 19 and May 20.
Based on several key metrics, the campus is now at a lower “yellow” risk level. This means that, beginning after classes on Friday, boarding students will have increased movement off campus and visitors will be allowed on campus with these guidelines:
- Students may walk to the immediate downtown area (as far north as the Stop & Shop shopping center and as far west as Whole Foods).
- Masking/physical distancing is still required.
- No indoor dining. Students must be mindful of close contacts when eating.
- Students may access indoor spaces while masking at all times.
- Boarding students are not permitted in cars or residences. (This means boarding students cannot get in cars with day students or parents/guardians.)
Campus visitor guidelines:
- Only outdoor contactless visits permitted on the Great Lawn. (Exception: Students may have contact with visiting pets outdoors.)
- Maximum of four visitors per student.
- Masking/physical distancing required. Visitors cannot be in “close contact,” meaning that our students cannot spend more than 15 cumulative minutes in a 24-hour window within 6 feet of a visitor.
- Visitors cannot take nor meet students off campus. To share a meal with your child, please plan an outdoor picnic on the Great Lawn. (While picnicking together, you MUST maintain 6 feet or more of physical distance.)
- Reminder: Visitors are not allowed in any residential spaces.
Families, please help us in upholding these guidelines. We are grateful for your ongoing partnership!
Spectator policy:
- No more than four family members per student-athlete.
- Arrive at the “field” no sooner than 15 minutes before game start time.
- Where noted, please sit/stand in the designated area for family-member spectators ONLY. We ask that parents do not sit in stands at the baseball and softball fields so our students may sit in our bleachers. In the stadium, we ask that family members sit ONLY on the far side (east) stands closest to outdoor track.
- All spectators must remain masked at all times with a mask fully covering the mouth and nose regardless of vaccination status.
- All spectators must abide by the Academy’s physical distancing guidelines with non-family members at all times.
- All spectators must remain outside at all times and may not enter any buildings. Port-a-potties will be located near all outdoor fields.
- No team or parent tailgates/parking lot gatherings permitted.
Please understand that, at any time, we may need to pull back on these changes and adjust course. As always, you can visit our COVID-19 Dashboard for the most up-to-date information.

Share Your Feedback
Watch your email next week for a survey from the Dean of Students Office to gauge how our programs are going for you and your child. Your valuable input earlier this year has helped us to deliver a robust spring term program with the majority of students and faculty learning and teaching on campus. Thank you in advance for taking 10 to 15 minutes to complete this latest survey; it is an important way for us to gather information about ways we can improve and things we should consider in our planning for next year. Please note that no remote learning is planned for 2021–2022.
