A Joy and a Privilege
I had hoped to be sitting with you on the Greener Quad in late spring, cheering on our graduates and celebrating their remarkable accomplishments. Earning an Andover diploma is not easy, and you all know this. To earn an Andover diploma in the middle of a global pandemic—during such unprecedented times—is simply mind blowing! I admire the Class of 2020 for their perseverance, courage, and grace amidst chaos and crisis.
They have shown us through Zoom meetings, virtual assemblies, and online classes that they embody the non sibi spirit. Embracing values of goodness and knowledge, they will move through the world thinking with both their head and their heart. Andover will forever live in the Class of 2020 in extraordinary and unique ways. The world needs these soon-to-be-graduates now more than ever!
This special issue of the Parent Bulletin includes Senior Week activities and other opportunities to honor your senior. In addition to encouraging your child across the finish line, please join us for a virtual celebration of the Class of 2020 on Sunday, June 7, at 10 a.m. (EDT). A link to our Livestream commencement features will be forthcoming.
Thank you for partnering with us over the years, and thank you, especially, for your patience and support this spring. It has been a joy and a privilege to watch your children grow up. Our lives will be forever enriched by the Class of 2020!

Senior Week Begins June 1
| |
In the week leading up to the virtual celebration of the Class of 2020 on June 7, Andover will host a series of opportunities for our seniors to engage with one another, and for our community—faculty, staff, students, and alumni—to salute the amazing and indomitable Class of 2020! Details for these events will be coming soon.
- Monday, June 1—Senior Sunrise
This majestic occasion of reflection is a senior tradition! Students will be invited to join Dean of Students Jenny Elliott and the cluster deans for sunrise (approx. 5 a.m. EDT)—and to share photos and location of their own June 1 sunrise. This year, we invite parents to also share this special tradition with their students. - Tuesday, June 2—Alumni Panel
Seniors will be invited to reconnect with familiar faces from the classes of 2017, 2018, and 2019. - Wednesday, June 3—Athletics Tribute to Our Seniors
Seniors will not want to miss this exciting montage— with guest appearances—of their time spent with teammates and coaches. - Thursday, June 4—Senior Arts
Visual and performing arts will come together for a day to honor the artistic contributions of the senior class through the years. - Friday, June 5—Community Celebration
This will be a wonderful opportunity for our seniors to reconnect with the adults in the community who have been an integral part of their Andover experience. - Saturday, June 6—Saturday Story Time
Everyone has a favorite Andover story! Seniors will be invited to see and hear their peers share stories from their time on campus.

A Message to Seniors
This message was sent to your senior earlier this week:
Seniors!
It’s hard to believe it’s mid-May already! A lot has evolved since we last reached out to you. Leaves and flowers are appearing on the trees around campus; plans are underway for a slew of awesome Senior Week activities; details have been sent and you are all figuring out how and when you can finally get your stuff that’s left on campus; AND your Senior Reflection Book deadline is fast-approaching!
With the vast range of emotions you are likely juggling on any given day, we hope that creating your Senior Reflection Book page might be a rewarding outlet for you. It doesn’t have to be labor-intensive, fancy, or perfect. A photo, a quote, a drawing, a QR code to a video or song. Keep it simple and don’t miss your chance to be included in this historic Andover publication! Here is Ashley's video on how to create your page.
Mr. Capano and Ms. Candelario thank you so much for the responses to the Senior Week survey and have shared your suggestions with the faculty leading the events.
Before we sign off we wanted to make sure we sent you these awesome resources from our own Dr. Jessica Pierre-Chery about managing anxiety. Anxiety might be impacting you now, in a few months, or next year, so take a look at these videos when you need to and learn some useful skills.
We miss you and we can’t wait to celebrate you in four weeks’ time! Until then, do you Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ (that paper, homework, SRB page)?
—Ms. Candelario, Ms. Ware, Dr. Zervas & Ms. Golas
