Parent Bulletin
Phillips Academy Head of School Office
Rebecca Sykes, associate head of school

Along
with taking AP exams, preparing for assessments and class presentations,
writing final papers, and making summer plans, students worked with
Dean of Students Paul Murphy to plan the spectacular May 16th All-School
Meeting to honor retiring faculty members, including Andover’s 14th
head, Barbara Landis Chase. The students staged a Farewell to Fourteen
program that Mrs. Chase said she will hold close to her heart forever.
The Yorkies and Azure serenaded her, our student comedian gently roasted
her, and representatives from each class presented her with special
gifts. The pièce de résistance was a surprise flash mob, when students,
faculty and staff donned royal blue scarves (Mrs. Chase’s signature
accessory!) and grooved to Dancing Queen. Click here to watch the entire program.

We Welcome Your Feedback
Every
school year is unique, but next year will be particularly special as we
welcome the 15th Head of School, John Palfrey. Many of our school
traditions will persist, including the biweekly publication of the
Bulletin. Our goal is to make sure that the Parent Bulletin is timely
and meets parents’ needs. Please share your thoughts and suggestions by

For Parents of Seniors:
- PSPA
will host its annual PreProm Reception on Thursday, May 31 at 5 p.m.,
in front of Paresky Commons. This is a wonderful opportunity to take
photos and see your child with his/her classmates at the start of their
graduation celebrations. The reception concludes with a traditional
promenade to the prom buses. If you would like to make a donation toward
food for this event, please email jacobsonuk@gmail.com by May 22nd.
- During
the weekend of June 1-3, The Phillipian will publish its Commencement
issue, a longer version of the paper that captures events that happened
throughout the school year. Parents may submit a picture or message to
their child(ren), congratulating them on their graduation. In years
past, The Phillipian has received so many submissions for this issue
that it has run several extra pages, and parents often see it as a
keepsake. Commencement ads come in four sizes: small ($60), medium
($80), large ($90) and half-page ($180). Please add $20 per order if you
would like your ad printed in color. You can design your own ad and
send it to jqu@andover.edu as a
.jpeg, or send pictures and text and our staff will help with the
layout. Please send payment to Connor Soules at 180 Main Street
Andover, MA 01810. Checks should be made payable to Trustees of Phillips
Academy. Questions? Please contact Matt Deorocki, The Phillipian’s Advertising Director). Submission deadline is May 21st. Thank you for your support!
- The
Andover Bookstore offers parents of the graduating class the
opportunity to order a handcrafted diploma frame tailored to fit the
Phillips Academy diploma. The frames come in two styles and feature the
Phillips Academy name with the official seal gold embossed on double
navy museum quality matting. To order your frame you may visit bookstore’s website or call 978-475-0143 for further information.
- Parents interested in downloading a free copy of the senior class photo can find several different versions of it here on the Phillips Academy SmugMug website.
