Theatre & Dance This Weekend
Uncommon Women and Others, written by Wendy Wasserstein, is a story set at a historically women’s institution amidst the peak of second wave feminism. Going back and forth between the early to late ’70s, Wasserstein explores gender, friendship, love, and the role of female identity within a patriarchal, oppressive society.
Showtimes:
- Friday, May 19—7 p.m.
- Saturday, May 20—2 p.m.
Melancholy Play, by acclaimed contemporary playwright Sarah Ruhl, is a farcical and surreal exploration of sadness, how we feel it, and how we respond to the sadness of others. Find out why Tilly’s “exquisite” sense of melancholy causes everyone she meets to fall in love with her—and why one admirer is turned into an almond.
Showtimes:
- Saturday, May 20—7 p.m.
- Sunday, May 21—2 p.m.
All four shows take place in Steinbach Theatre in George Washington Hall. Seating is first-come first-serve. We recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to showtime to secure your seats. All persons in your party must be present; there is no saving seats and no late seating.
Families of students involved in the production can check in with the House Manager to receive priority seating. Due to limited seating, we respectfully ask that families choose just one show for priority seating.

Seeking Host Families for 2023–2024
For nearly 30 years, the Andover Host Family Program has been instrumental in facilitating the transition of our international students to PA. Volunteer host families—who reside in the Andover area—provide occasional home-cooked meals, family outings, care packages, or assistance with airport runs during the academic year. More importantly, they offer friendship, support, comfort, and unique "family" experiences that are not typically available to international students attending boarding school.
We invite you to consider becoming a volunteer host family for the new school year! This September, PA will be welcoming approximately 70 new international students to our community. Most students are non-U.S. citizens; some are Americans or joint U.S. citizens living outside the United States. A few of them have recently moved to the United States. Being a host family presents a wonderful opportunity to engage in fun and educational cultural exchange.

End-of-Term Reminders for Your Student- Lost and Found Open House: The Dean of Students Office is collecting, sorting, and organizing lost and found items from across campus and will hold an open house so students can search for lost belongings. There is A LOT of stuff! Please encourage your student to drop by the Dean of Students Office (in the basement of George Washington Hall) on Wednesday, May 24, Thursday, May 25, or Friday, May 26, between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to look for anything they may have lost. Unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity.
- Athletic uniforms, library books, and AV equipment: Return as requested by various departments.
- Music rentals, lockers, keys, and instruments: All rental instruments must be returned by Friday, May 26. Instruments borrowed from the Department of Music DO NOT extend automatically over the summer; any student interested in summer rental must contact the music department to obtain approval. Students should clean out their music lockers, cubbies, and Rock Room lockers before leaving campus. No instruments, music, etc., may be left in Graves Hall over the summer.
- Clift Record Library in Graves Hall: All items must be returned by Friday, May 26; the library will close for the term at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 1. No recordings may be kept over the summer. Music students can stop by the circulation desk or use the online NOBLE system to check the status of their Clift Record Library account.
- Dorm Cleanup: It is imperative that students leave their dorm rooms as they found them in the fall—clean, organized, and containing only school items. Your student should:
| |
- REMOVE all personal items from room, including rugs, furniture, posters, bins, and closet organizers.
- RETURN all standard PA furniture BACK to its original location. (Sometimes it gets moved.)
- Clean and vacuum.
- Remove trash and recycling; place it in designated outdoor bins.
- Remove, donate, or discard all personal items from the bathroom, laundry room, common area, and kitchen, and empty refrigerator.

If a senior’s BlueCard balance is less than $10, the funds are not refunded to the families. Questions? Please email Claudia Scofield.

PA Visitor/Guest Health & Safety Guidelines
On-Campus Visitors: In consideration of the health and safety of visitors and our campus community, we expect visitors to be up to date with COVID vaccination, if eligible. We expect visitors to mask at all times or stay off campus if they are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID in the last 10 days, if they are within 10 days of having been diagnosed with COVID, and/or if they have any symptoms of respiratory illness. In the spirit of non sibi (not for self), the Academy trusts that campus visitors will follow these guidelines.

In the spirit of non sibi, the Academy trusts that those in attendance will follow these guidelines.
