Green Move Out

The Green Move Out program is an opportunity for students to embrace the spirit of sustainability and donate items that are in good condition to local charities, including Cradles to Crayons and Lazarus House. From May 30 to June 8, Green Move Out “pods” will be placed near the cluster dumpsters and students can drop off everything from clothing and shoes, to books, bedding, household items, and electronics. This is a wonderful way to support local charities, reduce waste, and lighten the load for packing and moving off campus. For more details, please see the Green Move Out flyer on the Parent Portal.

Info from the Dean of Students

All students, with the exception of seniors and those participating in commencement, must be off campus after their last academic commitment and no later than mid-morning on Friday, June 6. Students may not stay in the dorms to take the SAT tests on Saturday, June 7.
Students have been encouraged to begin clearing out their dorm rooms. Consider taking items home if you visit campus or your student comes home for a weekend. For boarding students who need to store items over the summer, consider the Collegeboxes service. Please sign up asap. The last day for delivery of storage kits is Friday, May 30. For more information visit the Collegeboxes website. Click on “Summer Storage and Shipping” and choose Phillips Academy Andover from the drop-down menu.
The last week for pickup and delivery for E&R Laundry is the week of May 26 EXCEPT for seniors. For seniors, E&R will pick up Monday, June 2, and return items on Thursday, June 5.

PA Traditions for Parents of Seniors

Parents interested in downloading a free copy of the senior class photo can find several versions of it here on the Phillips Academy SmugMug website.

We also invite you to carry on the tradition of Faculty Appreciation Letters. Teachers, coaches, and advisors challenge, inspire, and support our students throughout their time at Andover. Senior parents are invited to write a letter of appreciation to faculty and staff members who have had a significant impact on their child’s Andover experience. You may write as many letters as you would like. Only a few words are necessary, though anecdotes and pictures are welcome! This special Andover tradition honors our dedicated faculty and staff members in a simple, meaningful way. The letters will be presented to the Dean of Faculty and proudly displayed in the Faculty Room. A copy of each letter is shared with the individual faculty or staff member. Email facultyappreciation@andover.edu in Microsoft Word format.

Relay for Life Raises 46K

We are thrilled to report that the Relay for Life sponsored by the student club Campuses Against Cancer raised over $46,000 for the American Cancer Society. Over 350 Andover faculty, staff, parents, students, and faculty children participated in the four-hour walk-a-thon on April 26 (click here to see some great pictures). Highlights included courageous survivor stories shared by Dr. Christine Marshall-Walker, Dean Frank Tipton, and Officer Wendy Cogswell, and powerful stories by students Cat Haseman and Katie Santoro, who bravely spoke about losing family members to cancer. Alec D'Alelio, Hypnotiq, The Yorkies, Azure, and Under the Bed performed, while WPAA provided music throughout the event.
