Family Weekend Starts Friday!
We are very excited to welcome families back to campus this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A beautiful fall weekend is expected, but please check the forecast before heading to campus. Plan/pack accordingly and wear comfortable shoes—Phillips Academy is a walking campus! This special edition of the Family Bulletin, which replaces our regular Thursday issue, is full of important Family Weekend information and reminders.
- COVID-19 protocols/masks: In consideration of the health and safety of visitors and our campus community, we expect visitors to be up to date with COVID vaccination, if eligible. Any visitor who is ineligible or has a medical or religious exemption must mask indoors at all times when on campus. We expect visitors to stay off campus if they have any symptoms of illness and to mask if they develop any symptoms while on campus. We expect visitors to mask at all times or stay off campus if they are a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID in the past 10 days. In the spirit of non sibi (not for self), the Academy trusts that campus visitors will follow these guidelines.
- Your student may go off campus this weekend: Requests for overnight permission must be submitted by your student by TODAY, Wednesday, October 12, through REACH Boarding, a cloud-based student life management system. Please remind your student to submit their request!
- Parking: Please reference this campus map for parking options.
- Wi-Fi access: To connect to campus Wi-Fi, select PA-OPEN-GUEST. No username or password is required.
- Advance registration ends today: Advance registration for Family Weekend closes at the end of today, Wednesday, October 12. - “Classroom Visits” schedule: Your student’s Saturday morning Classroom Visits schedule is now available in BlueLink. After you log onto The Hive, click the Student Schedule option under your student’s photo. The Family Weekend Schedule is available on the next entry page. To expedite campus check-in, please consider taking a snapshot of the schedule and storing it on your phone—or bring a printed copy with you.
- Download The Hive app: For your convenience while on campus, we encourage you to download The Hive app from Google Play or the Apple App Store as soon as possible.
- Be sure you can log onto The Hive before you arrive on campus: Your username is a combination of your first initial, last name, and 4 digits (Example: jdoe1978). Questions? The Technology Help Desk—available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. by email or phone (978-749-4357)—can assist with login issues or forgotten credentials.
- Get the full Family Weekend schedule: The schedule for Family Weekend can be found on the new Andover Event Guides App, available through both app stores.

We invite you to customize your weekend visit using the My Schedule option within the guide—and hope you attend as many events as possible! If you are unable to download the app, please review the schedule of events online. A printed Family Weekend schedule will be available at registration.

It’s School Picture Time
Photographers will be on campus in the coming weeks to take school photos. As we already collect BlueCard photos, school pictures are not required—but we know that some families appreciate the opportunity. If you would like your child to have their photo taken, please remind them of these dates and times!
9th-, 10th-, and 11th-graders: Photographers will be in Paresky Commons (lower left dining hall) on Thursday October 20, and Friday, October 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is no sitting fee and it only take about a minute—students can just stop in when they are having lunch and get their picture taken. When students have their photos taken they will submit your contact info, and the photographers will send proofs to you via email. You can then decide if you want to purchase prints.
Senior Photos: Senior Yearbook Portraits will be taken in Paresky Commons (lower left dining hall) from Monday, October 24, through Thursday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
There is a sitting fee of $40, which is payable only by student BlueCard. Senior photo sessions take around 10 minutes and offer several different backgrounds and poses.
Your senior will be emailed a link to sign up for a time that works for them. There will be three photographers on campus, so there should be plenty of time for any senior that would like their picture taken. Most seniors choose formal attire for their photo, but the school does not require any type of dress code. All portraits taken by the photographer will be automatically sent to the yearbook. You will be sent proofs if you wish to purchase additional prints.
Please note: You may also submit your own photograph for the yearbook. Most seniors choose a “traditional” head-and-shoulders pose in front of a neutral background, but you may choose whatever you prefer. Photos taken by another photographer should simply be emailed to Chris Capano, director of student activities, by January 1, 2023. Photos should be the highest resolution possible (at least 300 dpi) and have no photographer’s watermark.
