LITW Parent/Guardian Actions |
| How can you support your child in pursuing Learning in the World (LITW) opportunities this year? Here are a few tips:
-
Talk with your student about LITW programs, timing, and affordability. Students received a LITW planning worksheet on October 15, which you are welcome to review with them.
-
Students must complete their LITW applications and affiliate expressions of interest entirely on their own. Parents may proofread and give feedback, but they must not do any of the work for them.
-
In the Main Application for LITW and affiliates, students will provide parent/guardian contact information so that LITW may request permission for your student to apply to and participate in LITW programs. Please be sure that your student uses your preferred email address and that you check your inbox regularly (as well as your junk folder) for messages from invitations@educompass.net.
- If your student is hoping to pursue affiliate programs next summer, please encourage them to submit the affiliates’ own applications/enrollment forms ASAP, as these external programs often fill up quickly. Students may be able to apply for financial aid from our affiliates and augment their total assistance, if they qualify for LITW support, as well.
-
Notifications (invitations to LITW and approval to proceed with affiliate applications) will be sent out by LITW the week of December 9, and we request all RSVPs by
December 16. Due to this quick turnaround, please be confident in your student’s ability to participate, comfortable with their ranked choices, and aware of the financial resources to afford an experience.
Please see the full catalog of current LITW and affiliate opportunities on our website. Find more answers to your questions on the Take Action page.
Questions? Email Mark Cutler, director of LITW.
