Register: PreACT Exam for 10th-Graders
A PreACT exam—a preview to the ACT exam—will be held for PA 10th-graders on Saturday, January 21. Testing the same skills and knowledge, the PreACT can be a predictor of how one would score if they took the ACT. This test does not count in the admissions process and scores are only sent to students. PreACT results together with the PSAT can be a guide toward the standardized test a student pursues in the college admissions process.
Registration for the PreACT begins today, December 1, and runs until noon on Wednesday, December 14. For complete details, click here.

Health & Wellness
COVID-19 Bivalent Booster: Phillips Academy requires that students be up to date with their COVID-19 vaccination by Wednesday, January 4. This includes any boosters (such as the new bivalent booster) that have been added to meet the CDC definition of “up to date.”
COVID-19 boosters for age 12 and up have now moved to the bivalent formulation, which includes coverage against both the original SARS-CoV-2 strain as well as the more recent omicron variants. Pfizer has a bivalent booster available for individuals who are 12 years of age or older; the Moderna bivalent booster is available for individuals who are 18 or older. If your child receives/has received the booster off campus, please upload documentation to the Sykes Wellness Center Health Portal.

Peabody Webinar: Harriet Tubman
Join us Wednesday, December 7, at 1:30 p.m. ET for Season 5, Episode 10, of the Peabody Institute of Archaeology’s Diggin’ In series: “The Archaeology of Harriet Tubman and the Black Communities in Auburn, NY.” Please sign up for this webinar at our online registration page.
Harriet Tubman is remembered for her courageous work leading enslaved people from Maryland to freedom in Ontario in the decade before the Civil War. She’s known for her unprecedented work during the Civil War, advocating for and recruiting Black soldiers while serving as a nurse and spy. Yet Tubman is little known for the 50 years she spent in Auburn, New York, where she operated a farm, ran a boarding house, and cared for foster children and aging Black Americans, all while pursuing social justice work. This talk highlights the archaeological work at Tubman’s home while discussing the potential research areas related to the community associated with the areas around the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park.

Parent-to-Parent Outreach
We hope that you and your family enjoyed a healthy and safe Thanksgiving break.
Thank you to the many parents who contributed to the Parent Fund in the fall term! Parents who have not yet participated may expect to receive email reminders in December—we hope you will help to strengthen Andover parent support.
In the coming weeks, volunteers will continue reaching out by phone or email to invite you to support Andover with a gift or pledge. Please join fellow parents and help us reach our 2022–2023 goal of at least 65 percent parent participation.
The Academy depends on philanthropy for nearly 10 percent of its annual operating budget, and your gift—of any size—makes a difference!
Questions about making a gift to the Academy? Email Katherine Solimini, associate director of parent development.
